OUR STORY
Growing up in Argentina, preparing and eating empanadas were part of everyday life.
When the opportunity presented itself to join family and bring our passion for empanadas to Colorado, we jumped at the chance.
“Lazo” is an Argentinian term for a gathering of family or friends, and we hope that you’ll Lazo with us for the best savory and sweet empanadas in Colorado.

Luis and Francois started as a tiny operation in 2014 with wholesale distribution. By 2017, they opened their first brick and mortar shop in the Ballpark neighborhood, a few blocks from Coors Field. Since then, they have been baking some of the tastiest empanadas in Colorado with the support of our great partners, Nelson and Jeff, and the tremendous support of Francois’ wife, Laura, actual stores manager of the company.

WHAT MAKES AN EMPANADA EXTRAORDINARY?
Empanadas are simply foods covered in bread. In Spanish, the word empanar means “cover in bread” and when Spanish Conquistadors were exploring South America for gold and treasure, they would bring light, portable food with them. Empanadas can be filled with sweet or savory flavors and any local grain can be used to make the shell. What makes Argentinian empanadas special is the unique dough that makes it extra light and flakey when they are baked, not fried.
Our empanada recipes tap into our Argentinian heritage and encompass the empanada’s worldwide influence. We use only the freshest, premium ingredients to fill our empanadas, and they are cooked to order. Paired with our homemade chimichurri sauce for dipping and a glass of Malbec wine, we are sure to satisfy a quick lunch or large gathering.
